PROJECT: PRATHAM

Pratham’s young life has been marked by loss and hardship. He lost his father during the COVID-19 pandemic, and soon afterwards, his mother remarried and left him in the care of his elderly paternal grandparents.

Despite their advancing age and limited means, his grandparents took on the responsibility of raising him with love and determination. For years, his grandfather, a heart patient, worked tirelessly ferrying passengers on a cycle rickshaw to support the family. However, after suffering a heart attack, he was forced to stop working altogether.

Today, the family’s only source of income is a small tea stall that Pratham’s grandmother runs from their modest jhuggi. The earnings are barely enough to cover daily expenses, let alone provide for a growing child’s educational and other needs.

Recognizing the family’s difficult circumstances, SuRaksha Parhit Foundation stepped in and adopted the family. We are supporting Pratham’s education and helping the family with their essential needs, ensuring that financial hardship does not deprive him of the opportunity to build a better future.

Pratham’s story is a testament to the strength of family bonds and the resilience of those who continue to fight against overwhelming odds. With the right support, we hope he will be able to pursue his dreams and create a brighter future for himself and his grandparents.
